No it does not. You are meeting with the tour guide and they are giving you an overview of the area and suggestions where to go. I think the tour lasted several hours so basically you got …
No it does not. You are meeting with the tour guide and they are giving you an overview of the area and suggestions where to go. I think the tour lasted several hours so basically you got oriented to the area around the Hagia Sophia and the really cool funky places that you might miss if you didn’t meet with the local Tour guide. For example there is a really cool reggae bar just about a kilometer or two from the Hagia Sophia that you would never find otherwise. I also joined a tour in the afternoon, with the same group, where we went on a boat down the Bosphorous, and again we went to a very cool shopping area, and I learned from them how to use the local transit, and they supplied me with the transit pass, which I paid for which was about C$10 and then I was able to transit all over Istanbul. This type of local interaction and coaching can help you have a better trip. You can easily spend at least a week in Istanbul. It’s a very cool city with lots to see. Cheers. Kathy
