Hi Scott, I'm not an expert, but I have a rav4 as well and I made it to Samurai beach with my car as first sand driving ever. I would say as beginner tips: - buy a deflator and learn how to deflate your tyres as I think this is the most important thing for driving on the sand - buy shovel, racks and sort of recovery kit (just in case) - buy a portable compressor to inflate your tyres once you get back to proper asphalt road or you have to find the closest petrol station Saying that, you can play with traction control (on/off) and switching on the 4wd button on your rav. If you find some spot where there's too much sand, you might need to approach it with some speed to get through it. Have fun! :)
Is this beach near any accommodation? Is it within walking distance from that accommodation? Thank you

Hi there are several accommodations nearby, we stayed at melaleuca. We were able to walk to one mile beach but samurai beach is a bit further along. We got taken there by dune buggy.
