Drake basketball beat Missouri in the NCAA Tournament first round, marking the first time in over 50 years the Bulldogs advanced past the first round.

Ben McCollum, who led Drake’s dominating run through the Missouri Valley Conference and a win in the NCAA Tournament in his only season with the Bulldogs, was named head coach at Iowa on Monday.

The 46-year-old Henderson replaces Ben McCollum, who left for Iowa on Monday after leading the Bulldogs to the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and tournament championships and a first-round win over Missouri in the NCAA Tournament.

Drake has hired South Dakota State's Eric Henderson as its next head coach, the school said Friday. Henderson has guided the Jackrabbits to two NCAA tournaments in the last four seasons, while winning four Summit League regular-season championships in six years as the program's head coach.
