The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is concerned about the potential sale or transfer of Americans' personal information by 23andMe ancestry testing company which recently filed for bankruptcy, the agency's chairman said on Monday.

T he genetic testing and information company, 23andMe, announced on March 23 that it has filed for bankruptcy, after years of financial struggles and data privacy concerns.

Me, one of the first companies to provide direct-to-consumer genetic testing kits, has filed for bankruptcy. Since its founding in 2006, it has sold over 12 million DNA kits, with high-profile users including Oprah Winfrey and Warren Buffett.
