The Sunni Endowments Directorate has designated 32 mosques across Bahrain as jamea mosques for Ramadan, allowing them to hold Friday prayers throughout the holy month.

Located in Tashan, Al Khamis Mosque is believed to be the first mosque in Bahrain. It was built around 692 AD. The identical twin minarets on this ancient Islamic monument make it easily recognizable.
