Cincinnati Reds legend and Baseball Hall of Famer Barry Larkin joined the Orlando Dreamers in an attempt to help bring an MLB franchise to the city.

Hall of Famer and Cincinnati Reds legend Barry Larkin has joined the Orlando Dreamers, an organization trying to lure a major league franchise to the city, as an MLB ambassador, it was announced earlier this week.

The Orlando Dreamers announced on Wednesday that former Red and Hall of Famer Barry Larkin has joined the organization. The Dreamers are trying to get an MLB franchise in the city. Larkin lives in Orlando and will be serving as the MLB Ambassador for the Dreamers.

Larkin said at his introductory press conference that the Orlando group is open to pursuing both an expansion franchise or a potentially relocated one (alluding to the Rays’ situation). Manfred was asked about the possibility of relocating the Rays in November. He replied that MLB remained “focused on our franchise in Tampa Bay.”

Larkin will spearhead relationships and communications with Major League Baseball as well as providing strategic guidance to Orlando's MLB initiative.

There are efforts to get Major League Baseball into places like Nashville, but the legendary shortstop is also working to bring another team to Florida.
