According to Dr. Angela Speck, a professor of astrophysics and department chair for physics and astronomy at The University of Texas at San Antonio, the "blood moon" total lunar eclipse was visible across the U.S. and no special equipment was necessary to view it.

March's full moon, the Worm Moon, is extra special this year. But Washington residents may face cloudy skies that could affect the striking view.

The celestial event in which the moon turns an eerie red color will occur on March 13 to 14 and will be visible in all 50 states.
