Several islands and countries urged people near the coastline to move inland but authorities in most places later lifted the tsunami alerts.

A Tsunami Advisory was issued on Saturday evening following 7.6 magnitude earthquake, which occurred southwest of the Cayman Islands in the Northwest Pacific. The National Tsunami Warning Center said sea-level fluctuations and strong ocean currents were possible in the aftermath of the earthquake but the threat did not rise to a Tsunami Warning.

A magnitude-7.6 earthquake struck the Caribbean Sea near the Cayman Islands, prompting tsunami advisories for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Residents were urged to move inland amid threat of tsunami waves along several coasts.
