MIRAMAR, Fla. — Police have charged Florida rapper YNW Melly with killing two of his close friends who were also rising rap stars, and trying to make it appear they died in a drive-by shooting.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Jamell Demons, the rapper known professionally as YNW Melly, is finally due back in court Dec. 5, but it won’t be to pick up where his murder retrial left off.

Before his arrest for double murder in 2019, YNW Melly was one of the most promising names in rap. Raised by a single mother in Gifford, Fla., he uploaded his first songs to SoundCloud in 2015.
