March 14 (UPI) -- Matlock actor Jason Ritter is slated to join HBO's upcoming Lanterns series inspired by the Green Lantern DC comic. He will portray Billy Macon who tries to cash in on his family's name as he carries out tasks for his father, several outlets report.

On Friday, it was revealed that Jason Ritter, the American actor known for his role in Matlock and Poker Face, joined the cast of Lanterns for the role of Billy Macon, a family member of Garret Dillahunt's William Macon. Besides, his character will also be Kelly Macdonald 's Sheriff Kerry's husband.
