Dr. Rasha Alawieh, a doctor and assistant professor with a visa to work in Rhode Island, was deported to her native Lebanon over the weekend despite an ongoing dispute over her detention by federal agents and a court order intended to keep her in the United States.

Court documents say Customs and Border Protection violated a court order to halt the deportation of Dr. Rasha Alawieh, which the agency allegedly carried out “without any justification.”

Rasha Alawieh's deportation comes amid the Trump administration's crackdown on pro-Palestine protestors and "terrorist sympathisers" at university campuses.
