Law enforcement officials were among those making a splash on Saturday at the annual Polar Plunge event. Dozens of people braved the cold weather at Crown Beach in Alameda. The event raises money for the Northern California Special Olympics.

Dozens of people came out to Granite Bay to brave the cold waters for this year’s polar plunge. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office took the plunge to new heights by jumping out of a helicopter. The event is a fundraiser for the Special Olympics. Our own Tamara Berg was the event emcee.

Dozens gathered at the Black River Beach for La Crosse's Polar Plunge. The event supports the more than 14,000 athletes of Special Olympics Wisconsin. Top Videos Participants raised funds for the organization in the lead up to the event and then plunged into icy waters on Saturday.
