The Department of Health and Human Services has given Maine 10 days to resolve Title IX violations for allowing biological males who identify as female to compete in women’s school sports. HHS’s Office for Civil Rights found the Maine Department of Education in violation of Title IX on Feb.

The Maine Principals’ Association issued a response to the DHHS announcement that the state violated Title IX by letting trans athletes in girls sports.

The federal Office of Civil Rights on Monday said the Maine Department of Education, the Maine Principals Association, which regulates school sports, and Greely High School in Cumberland have 10 days to change their policies or the issue will be handed over to the Department of Justice.
