The aurora borealis will be more visible than usual Sunday night, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration projects, potentially giving Americans in 10 states a view of the northern lights.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) aurora forecast, the northern lights may be viewable in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and even Massachusetts tonight. The northern lights are typically most visible between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. according to NOAA.

This activity is connected to a fast-moving coronal mass ejection, or CME, that left the Sun on Friday. According to SWPC’s forecasting, this CME could cause the necessary activity in our atmosphere to make the northern lights visible across the northern U.S.
