As Callery pear trees, otherwise known as Bradford pears, begin to bloom in abundance, Kentucky meteorologist Brad Maushart has taken it upon himself to offer a little pruning advice to the Southeast.

The Bradford pear (Pyrus callerana "Bradford") was originally developed as a way to help control fire blight in pear trees.
