After a record-breaking 74 tornadoes in Ohio in 2024, officials want to make sure Ohioans are prepared for severe weather this spring and summer. March 16 through the 22 is designated by Gov. Mike DeWine as Severe Weather Awareness Week.

On Friday afternoon, the threat level for western Georgia, which includes the counties of Cobb, Douglas, Bartow and Coweta, was increased to level 4.

MERCER COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Like several other Kentucky counties, Mercer County is no stranger to severe weather. “Tornados, they get the big headlines, but severe thunderstorms, straight line winds can be just as dangerous,” said Mercer County Emergency Management Director Brad Cox.
