With just one week before the deadline, many federal workers are still unclear whether they can trust the Trump administration’s offer, or if they are even eligible for it.
On the heels of a return-to-office mandate, most civilian federal employees can elect to receive salary and benefits through the end of September, provided they accept the buyout terms by Feb. 6.
After all, the federal government isn’t funded until the end of this fiscal year. Spending will run out in mid-March, and lawmakers will have to pass another stopgap bill to keep agencies open.
