JD Vance will chair the Republican National Committee’s finance committee heading into the 2026 midterm election cycle, giving the vice president entrée to the world of deep-pocketed donors whose support is crucial for any future presidential aspirations.

No sitting vice president has ever served as the RNC's finance chair. While Vance already has relationships with major Republican donors, particularly in Silicon Valley, this new role will expand his potential donor pool should he run to succeed President Donald Trump atop the Republican ticket in 2028.
