COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s basketball team bowed out in the second round of March Madness at home on Sunday evening. The No. 4-seeded Buckeyes fell to No. 5 Tennessee, 82-67. It’s the second year in a row Ohio State failed to make it past the second round of March Madness.

For the second year in a row, the Ohio State women couldn't find their way from Columbus to the Sweet Sixteen. This time, Tennessee got them.

First-year Tennessee coach Kim Caldwell brought a unique substitution pattern with her from her previous stops at Division II Glenville State and Marshall. Caldwell’s fifth-seeded Lady Volunteers (23-9) will face fourth-seeded Ohio State (26-6) in a women’s NCAA Tournament second-round game on Sunday.

The fourth seeded Buckeyes had an opportunity in the third quarter to comeback vs Tennessee, but failed and were eliminated from March Madness.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Tennessee Lady Volunteers basketball team is set to go up against Ohio State in the round of 32 for a spot in the Sweet 16. Tennessee took down South Florida in dominating fashion in the first round, 101-66. The Lady Vols are on their 43rd consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and are 41-2 in first round matchups.
