Purdue, the defending national runner-up, starts tournament play Thursday afternoon when the Boilers take on High Point, making its NCAA tourney debut, in Providence, R.I., for a opening-round matchup in the Midwest Region.

The Purdue basketball team is headed to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Purdue, the No. 4 seed in the Midwest region, beat No. 12 McNeese State, 76-62. The Boilermakers will play either No. 1 Alabama or No. 8 Gonzaga in Indianapolis next week.

No. 1 seed Houston advanced to the Elite Eight on a perfectly executed last-second inbounds play that led to a game-winning layup by Milos Uzan on Friday night, as the Cougars outlasted No. 4 seed Purdue 62-60 in a thrilling cap to the Sweet 16.
