The Brevard Zoo community is mourning the loss of a second popular animal in less than a week. Pepper, one of the first cheetahs to join the zoo in 2010, has died, zoo officials announced Wednesday.

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Brevard Zoo is mourning the death of its oldest male giraffe. Doc, who was 22 years old, died after being treated for ongoing mobility issues, zoo officials said.

Brevard Zoo's oldest male giraffe, Doc, died after facing ongoing mobility and health issues. Doc was one of the original five giraffes to be on habitat when Expedition Africa opened back in 2003.
