Gov. Ron DeSantis and Republican legislative leaders reached a deal over illegal immigration Monday night that would require the governor to share enforcement powers with members of the Florida Cabinet.

The Senate president and House speaker issued a proclamation for a special session that will start Tuesday. They also released summaries of bills that include steps aimed at helping carry out President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration.

The Florida Legislature will convene another special session on Tuesday after Republican legislative leaders and Gov. Ron DeSantis reached a deal on immigration enforcement, likely ending a weeks-long public battle.
