This story has been updated to reflect that the governor signed the legislation and offered remarks. Gov. Ron DeSantis signed two separate measures designed to expedite deportations of undocumented immigrants less than an hour after the proposals cleared the House and Senate.

During Thursday's bill signing, DeSantis did mention his squabble with Florida's legislative leaders, comparing it to turbulence on a plane. "The minute you land safely you just kind of forget about it and you move on with your day, and this plane landed safely and securely and soundly," he said.
