Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ruling Hindu nationalist party won the most seats in the high-stakes state legislature election in the country’s federal territory, including New Delhi, for the first time in over a quarter-century, according to official data Saturday.

Control of the assembly in New Delhi is set to change hands, a feat that eluded the Indian prime minister’s Bharatiya Janata Party for nearly three decades.

The BJP is expected to win 48 of the 70-member legislative assembly, where it is leading, according to the Election Commission of India’s website. The party is reclaiming Delhi after almost three decades.
