Villanova fired Kyle Neptune after a three-year run in which he succeeded Hall of Fame coach Jay Wright but failed to make the NCAA Tournament.

After three straight seasons of missing the NCAA Tournament, Villanova has fired head men’s basketball coach Kyle Neptune. Neptune was put in a difficult position from the beginning, having to replace the Naismith Hall of Famer Jay Wright who won two NCAA championships at the school before retiring in 2022.

Villanova has parted ways with men’s basketball coach Kyle Neptune, the school announced Saturday. The Wildcats went 54-46 in three seasons under Neptune and never made the NCAA Tournament. Assistant Mike Nardi will serve as interim head coach and the search for Neptune’s replacement will begin immediately, the school said in a statement.
