Dwayne Johnson will be reprising his role as Maui from Moana (2016), marking one of the first times an actor from a Disney animated film physically portrays that same character in a live-action remake.

Moana is the eighth confirmed Disney Princess remake, after Maleficent, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Mulan, The Little Mermaid, and Snow White. Moana will be the first live-action Disney Princess to not have a love-interest.
