The Maryland Hunger Map analyses the Maryland Food Bank’s food distribution over 12 months. The map generates detailed information about the distribution of food through our network of 1,200 distribution partners—faith-based organizations, schools, community groups, Pantry on the Go partners, and MFB Kids sites.

Our interactive map features annual food insecurity estimates for all individuals and children, as well as older adults and seniors, at the state level and below. To achieve our vision of an America where no one is hungry, we believe it is imperative to address disparities in food insecurity by race as well as place.

The map helps us to visualize the landscape of hunger in our region, seeing where the highest levels of food insecurity are and where we need to create new food distributions, find new partners, or innovate our approaches.

The Map is built on the foundation of the Vulnerable Australia model created by The Art of More, which uses over 8,000 data points to identify the likelihood of someone being food insecure by area and severity. The food bank uses this interactive map to understand where food insecure people area and to measure the impact that we and our partners have on our communities.

2024年5月15日 · The extra amount of money that people facing hunger said they need to have enough food reached its highest point in the last 20 years, according to Feeding America’s annual Map the Meal Gap study. People facing hunger said they need an additional $24.73 per week in 2022, a 9.5% increase after adjusting for increased prices.
