2015年8月22日 · I can make vinegar in a glass barrel, assuming the apples will work, as green as they are. We had a very warm, early, spring and the tree went crazy setting apples, and then it's been a wet, mild, summer. The branches have been breaking since June despite a lot of thinning already. I've never seen an apple tree loaded with so many apples.

2008年9月2日 · Making pectin is not at all difficult, and apples that are not quite ripe are the best source. I really like pectin from crab apples. Just cut your apples into halves or quarters. Put them into a big pot, and barely cover with cold water. Cook them down very slowly, stirring occasionally so they don't stick to the bottom of the pot.

2017年5月28日 · I've made apple butter from unripe apples before. It takes a long time simmering them with molasses and brown sugar before the "green" taste fades. You can also use them to make pectin for jams. I think you could also make vinegar with them, but I'm not sure.

2010年4月12日 · We used to pick apples like that, red apples too from abandoned orchards. Scabs are easily peeled and the worms aren't much of a bother. Like I said they are higher in pectin and make good apple butter, etc. I guess in the end it's more work to prepare and less yield. Fruit trees well established are probably better, I don't know.

2012年5月16日 · Here is the Recipe i use for canning my green bean. My GF is a bit of a Germaphobe so anything i can has to be pressure canned if i want her to eat it. The recipe was hers i adopted it to canning and it has served me very well.

2006年10月6日 · A well seasoned fence post will last 50 years in the ground and be so hard that you cant drill it. I've attempted to burn some seasoned wood but it don't burn. I have heard it is one of the woods that you can cut and burn green though. Over all this is a unique tree. P.S. Only the female trees produce the "horse Apples"

2010年8月10日 · I have cut the worms out and made cider. You can always pick up a couple other tasty apples and make great cider. I like more than one variety in my cider. You can jar it up and have it all winter. Apple butter is another option.
