Pen Makers build their caps and rings in different ways. In the old days (think late 1800s/early 1900s) many makers swaged rings onto caps. Essentially squishing very thin rings into little grooves on the cap. This video goes into pretty good detail about swaging.

2015年8月18日 · Here is a video link on how to make a kitless pen cap with a clip. It shows the clip near the end. Before I got a metal lathe I would use an end mill of the appropriate diameter in the tail stock of my wood lathe to create a depression in the cap for the ring of the clip.

2019年8月22日 · I assume that the most cost effective source would be to purchase pre-made rings of the appropriate size (where?), machine them if necessary (to square the cap side and round the out-side, although you couldn't really do this with a plated ring, would need to be solid metal), cut a tiny tenon on the end of the cap, and put them on with CA or epoxy.

2021年10月8日 · Make sure you drill out your tenon to allow the nib to fit. End milled out the channel to hide the clip ring. Notice how the nib extends past the opening. Filed out an opening on the right so that when threaded, the ring sits flush. Threading on the finial and fitting the clip to fit in the channel and exiting through the slot. Fully threaded.
