2024年11月20日 · I just updated to sequoia 15.1.1 on my MacBook Pro M1, and the spotlight search bar no longer shows up at all. I've tried to find fixes online, but most people seem to have problems with spotlight not searching specific locations. This is different. Whether clicking on the spotlight icon in the menu bar or using the keyboard shortcut, no search bar shows up anywhere.

Just to make an official answer. User M K referenced an article in osXDaily that explains how to both hide and un-hide the Spotlight icon. Show the Spotlight Menu Again Getting the Spotlight icon back is a matter of bringing the permissions back to their default setting in OS X.

2013年8月1日 · killall SystemUIServer Unfortunately if I repair disk permissions and reboot at some point (or just simply reboot some people tell me), the annoying spotlight thing is back in the menu bar. I don't want to disable spotlight, just to take off the damn magnifying glass from the menu bar persistently.

I want to keep Spotlight functionality, but kill the (now useless) menubar icon, since I can summon Spotlight with Cmd+Space. I've also tried Bartender, which works but is both pricey ($15 to remove an icon!) and quirky (it takes a while to startup, so my menu bar ends up shifting around for up to a minute after logging in)
