BORN 2 FISH...forced to work!! There was one in Hope Mills Lake not long ago which is fed by rockfish creek, a tributary of the cape fear. Had to get there from somewhere.

Apr 4, 2020 · Starting in July of 2018, our team began sampling alligators at many locations up and down the Cape Fear River and outside of the Cape Fear watershed. To date we have sampled from > 90 alligators. Gather current data on the American alligator population across NC, and compare that data to ongoing studies of coastal NC.

Seriously, they can be, and are, pretty much all over the place out there. They turn up on the beaches. They've turned up in the canals in Hampstead. I've seen them all the way up the NE Cape Fear at Holly Shelter. The Brunswick River is loaded with them around Leland, especially in the old rice canals.
