Our Converted Bread Truck is just that, an old Bread Truck converted into a Rescue Vehicle. The equipment list shown is how one department wanted it equipped. This apparatus can in fact be converted into a variety of support vehicle roles. Haz-Mat, Decon, Water Rescue, Dive Team, Command Post, Canteen, Salvage, just to name a few.

Thanks to contributions by fire companies, and individual fire fighters, Signal 22 was able to purchase a 1955 Chevrolet walk-in bread truck. This was converted into their second mobile canteen unit. In 1997, Signal 22 purchased their third and current primary vehicle.

2008年3月8日 · The original Squads in the FDNy used a big van called a "Bread Truck". They were a 24 hour a day unit and assigned to respond on all boxes in their district. They carried hose ( roll ups) and Truck tools. These Squads were used as stated, primarily as manpower. They could be assigned to operate as an Engine or truck by the Chief in charge.

This 1960s vintage International Harvester Metro Van was converted into Ferndale’s first rescue truck sometime around 1979 according to Joe Koches and photos that we have of it. Rescue 4 was known as the bread truck, because that’s what it was in its former life.
