Thrust block design for large pipeline - Eng-Tips
2015年9月28日 · I'm considering a preliminary thrust block design for a large steel liquid-products pipeline (20-24"). I am familiar with the engineering principles behind the design of a thrust block (as well as having experience with soils and structural design), but the only thrust block design guide I've been able to find is the "Guide to the Design of Thrust Blocks for Buried Pressure …
Thrust Block Design 1 - Eng-Tips
2012年3月19日 · It is a straight pipe at a push-on style retrofitted joint, hence just a rectangular block. There was a thrust collar and that was easy to handle just as you would punching shear of a column. Again, this project was a first for me. My concern, and where my ignorance resided, was such a large pipe and high hoop pressure splitting the block.
Thrust Block Design - Civil/Environmental engineering general ...
2011年9月1日 · Thrust blocks have of course often been used for buried service, where one common design objective is to figure out how large a block bearing area must be constructed with the configurations and pressures etc. involved against a particular soil (that is the focus of the DIPRA approach I believe you found).
NFPA 24 and Thrust Block Design - Water treatment and distribution
2011年3月4日 · In recent design of thrust blocks for a fireline installation, I came across values reported on the NFPA 24 code which raised a few questions. More specifically the NFPA 24 2002 edition. In design of thrust blocks, NFPA 24-02 calls out the thrust equation under figure A.10.8.2(a) based on the applicable variables.
Thrust Block - COADE, Inc.: CAESAR II | Eng-Tips
2012年9月14日 · As I know in hydrotest of large bore GRP lines at elbows, movement may be higher than 1 inch despite of the thrust block . Even in operating condition actual movement of thrust blocks at fittings are so higher than 1.5 mm. Thus I think stiffness of thrust block should calculate and uses for modelling. Am I right?
Thrust Block design - Structural engineering general discussion
2011年9月2日 · the hydrostatic pressure at the bend = 1.5 * P * A. = 1.5 * 70 psi * 707 in^2 = 74,235 lbs. I find it hard to believe that 74 kips transmitts through the pipe and would need to be restrained by a thrust block, and that's without even taking velocity into account.
Thrust Block Design - Structural engineering general discussion
2001年6月26日 · To design a Thrust Block I have to use the momentum formula and take in account the weight of the bend itself and the water inside the bend if it's a vertical thrust block, but I am a little confused with the engineer using that formula. I'll be grateful if someone of you show me an example on how to design a vertical and horizontal thrust block.
Thrust block curing time - Water treatment and distribution
2010年8月26日 · The use of thrust blocks should be considered with great care. They are only as good as the stability of the soil. In locations where the soil may be disturbed by future construction, reliance on thrust blocks, particularly for large diameter pipe, is not a very good idea. The use of restrained joints and trench friction is a better idea.
Thrust Block - Structural engineering general discussion - Eng-Tips
2011年7月8日 · This particular thrust block got called out in the design set but was never detailed. The contractor has now pointed this out via. RFI. Just to include a few more detials:-This is inside a new pumping station (not in service yet)-The slab has already been poured-The resistance is for a 30" discharge pipe
Thrust block design - Structural engineering general discussion
2010年7月23日 · I am trying to design a thrust block for a 450mm diameter water main but its turning out to be very big as its in sandy clay soil. Right now I'm just using the passive pressure on the face of the block, but apparently a large component of the resisting force is generated by the passive pressure and frictional resistance on the pipe.
