The Visitation Sisters are contemplative nuns founded by St Francis de Sales and St Jane de Chantal “to give to God daughters of prayer.” The First Federation in the United States consists of contemplative monasteries.

The Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary (Latin: Ordo Visitationis Beatissimae Mariae Virginis), abbreviated VSM and also known as the Visitandines, is a Catholic religious order of Pontifical Right for women.

The Order of the Visitation was founded in 1610 by Saint Francis de Sales and Saint Jane Frances de Chantal in Annecy, Haute-Savoie, France in order to open religious life to all including older women and those whose constitutions were not strong enough for the more austere Orders.

Georgetown Visitation Monastery is home to the Sisters of the Visitation of Holy Mary where they live a life of prayer and community.

The nuns of the Visitation of Mary, called also Filles de Sainte-Marie, Visitandines, and Salesian Sisters, were founded in 1610 at Annecy in the Duchy of Savoy by St. Francis de Sales, Bishop of Geneva, and by St. Jane de Chantal.

They live separated from the world, dressed in black and white habits, with their days dedicated to prayer. It seems medieval, like something from another time and another place, but it’s real life for the Visitation Sisters of Toledo.

It would be called the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary. The sisters would focus, in their spiritual life, on the virtues of the Blessed Mother, especially those she exhibited at the Visitation. They would commit themselves to detachment and to seeking union with God’s will.

Sister Maria Angela, 43 who was 18 years in the monastery, and Sister Maria Engracia, 39 who was 12 years in the monastery, were among the rank of Out-Sisters. In addition, there were Lay-Sisters who were charged with the domestic chores entailed in communal living.

We draw strength from meditating on the love of Mary and Elizabeth in the joyful mystery of the Visitation. Our older Sisters share their experience and wisdom with our younger sisters, through their life of joy and simplicity.

2018年11月15日 · To comply with the requirements of recent Vatican documents, the Visitation Sisters of the First Federation in the United States have taken some important steps. They’ve launched a website, and are taking other steps as well.

Visitation Sisters are cloistered, contemplative religious who are dedicated to a life of prayer and of living in community. The Liturgy of the Hours is sung five times each day and two hours of mental prayer and spiritual reading are also prescribed.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 until 2:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal With Our Love (A.W.O.L.) in care of the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a son, David Myers, of Caney; two sisters, Leona Johnson, of Ocala, Fla., and Hazel Wallace, of Houston; a brother, Ray Myers, of Copan, Okla.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Penwell Gabel Graves Chapel in Coffeyville. Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Our Visitation Monastery, located in Western Massachusetts is made up of religious women who have been called by the Lord to live together in community, sharing a vowed life of poverty, celibacy, and obedience and growing together spiritually through our prayer, work, and study.

Visitation at Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home will be Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family will receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Stovall officiating.
