Legally it’s a country. The confusion tends to be related to the fact that it isn’t a nation-state. As such it’s a country/region within the nation-state of the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, just like Scotland and England are. I believe Wales only formally became a country around a decade ago.

2021年3月20日 · Wales naturally joined up with England. The other two countries did not and instead written agreements brought them into the UK. Nothing exists with Wales. Therefore, Wales is not a country. It is a collection of counties in England. Calling Wales a country is akin to saying that the Black Country is a country. It isn't.

Speaking as some one from Gods County (Leicestershire) Wales is indeed Gods Country.. it is the most breathtaking place. I am proud to have lived there, nothing comes close to the amazing scenery etc.. Scotland is a very close 3rd.. after England of course

2022年3月3日 · Wales is a beautiful country with mountains, beaches, forests, and lots of history. More castles per sq mile than any other country in the world, but also history from a long time before that (Iron Age) and a long time after that (Industrial Revolution).

So one might more clearly say that the UK is a country whereas Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland are nations. That said, though, there is individual governance of the nations in much the same way as many countries are divided into provinces that have a level of government between the municipal and federal levels.

2022年4月4日 · Seven years ago, people considered Wales a country, the UK a country made of countries, and the EU a union of countries that often functioned the way countries function. Clearly, the word "country" does not have a very precise definition. But, all that said, everyone in the UK considers England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales to all be countries.

2018年1月22日 · It started with some fantasy books set in Wales and when I was teenager almost all the bands I liked were Welsh (Manic Street Preachers, Catatonia, Super Furry Animals, Stereophonics). I tried studying the language independently but didn’t have enough discipline. The highlight of my trip to the UK twenty years ago was visiting Wales.

Those born in the countries that make up Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales), are generally defined as being of British nationality. Northern Ireland gets a bit more complicated.
