May 9, 2020 · On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and type camera. Then click on Camera privacy settings. Make sure to toggle On Allow apps to access your camera. Scroll down to Choose which apps can access your camera and toggle On ALL the apps you want access to camera. Close the window, test the camera and see if it’s working properly.

What the HP virtual assistant does not tell you is that there is a tiny privacy switch to turn off the camera on the right side of the HP Envy. The switch also removes it from the list of devices until you switch it back on.

In the past, a cold boot has temporarily fixed the problem. In Device Manager, when working, there is a group for Camera. The first Driver is for "HP IR Camera" with Provider Realtek.
