The Bienne site, at the foot of the Jura mountains in the Swiss canton of Berne, is entirely dedicated to developing and manufacturing Rolex movements. Here, the components of the movement – from 200 to nearly 400 for the most complex calibres – are meticulously manufactured, then assembled by hand and rigorously checked.

The Aegler/Borer-owned movement making facility was almost always referred to as Rolex Bienne, and to the vast majority of outsiders, it simply looked like a subsidiary of Rolex Genève. However, in truth they were indeed two separate entities, albeit entirely inseparable.

Opened in 2012, Rolex's state-of-the-art Bienne site is the result of a major strategic construction project, among the largest of its kind in Switzerland.
