Prison Journalism Project is an independent, national nonprofit organization that trains incarcerated writers to be journalists and publishes their stories so they can serve as influential voices in the broader conversation about the prison legal system across the U.S. and in their local communities.

PJP Inside is Prison Journalism Project’s award-winning print newspaper. Published four times a year, the paper teaches, inspires and models PJP-style journalism and is core to PJP Learning.

Our work is journalism. Our hands-on training and publishing opportunities teach people behind bars how to tell their stories in compelling ways while building their fundamental workforce readiness skills.
